Frequently Asked Questions
- What's the point of this site?
GameOn Leagues is built for for finding, organizing and tracking competitions. There are a few different ways that might use GameOn...
You and your friends can organize a competition in whatever game you all like to play. GameOn will create a game schedule and help you track who's winning and who's losing. Once you're feeling confident, you can decide to set up a real tournament, complete with entry fees and prizes for the top contenders.
If you don't have a group that likes to play the same games as you, you can find one here. You can search for a competition in your game and match your skills against other players. If you don't find what you're looking for, you can create your own open competition to find opponents.
- What kinds of competitions can I organize?
For the most part you can organize a competition for any game you like. From an online FPS death match to a euchre tournament, if you can find people who want to play, you can play it on GameOn.
We do have a few rules about which games can be played for prizes. No games of chance are allowed under any circumstances. If it doesn't require skill to win it, then you can't play it for money. And if you aren't actually playing the game, then you can't create a prize competition for it. Proxy competitions such as an NCAA pool are a big no-no. Competitions for games that violate our Terms & Conditions will be cancelled by the site administrators. - When do I play my match?
Every competition will have its own unique schedule and round times. Each competition will consist of a number of rounds where the games must be played. Since this depends on the competition settings, it could be anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 months. If you have a competition that has a round length of 1 week, that means that you will be required to play ONE match in ONE week.
- How do you enter results?
For each match that is played, the players/teams participating must enter their results back on the site.

- What does a Competition Owner do?
The first responsibility of the Competition Owner will be to create/setup a competition and see that the event begins and ends smoothly. This means creating, configuring rules, setting up schedule, inviting players, ejecting players, etc.
The second responsibility of the Competition Owner will be for match dispute resolution.. The Competition Owner has ultimate power in determining the outcome of a dispute. This means that a good well run competition implies a good, honest Competition Owner. - What does it cost?
If you play a free competition it will cost you NOTHING
If you join a money competition, then you will need to pay a small entry fee. The entry fee will be set by the Competition Owner and will vary depending on the size, the players, the game, the format, etc. - What types of competitions do you support?
Scheduling Types: Currently we support ROUND-ROBIN, SINGLE-ELIMINATION, MODIFIED-DOUBLE-ELIMINATION, and MULTIPLAYER.
All formats versions support Team or Individual play. - How do you verify results?
When two or more people play a match, it is their responsiblity to accurately report the results. If for any reason, their is a disagreement on the outcome, users will have the ability to DISPUTE the match results.
The first line of Dispute Resolution will be the Competition Owner. The Competition Owner must properly attempt to resolve the dispute fairly. With the games and features that exist today, there is ample means and methods to track down outcome of the game. The Competition Owner will also specify in the competiiton rules how results should be recorded in case of a dispute. Screenshots, xbox stats, bungie stats, etc are all viable means to verify match results.
*** If it happens that your Competition Owner is unwilling to fairly investigate your claims, you can also report this incident to GameOn itself. GameOn Leagues will then attempt to resolve this dispute peacefully.
*** All disputes, honored or overruled, will go on your permanent record. This goes for players and owners. Ultimately this will go againts your integrity rating and if that drops to low you might have a difficult time joining or creating any competitions. So, use your disputes wisely. - What types of competitions do you support?

Understanding Modified Double Elimination
Modified Double Elimination is a hybrid structure between single and complete double elimination. Unlike Double Elimination, modified does not mean you have the opportunity to lose 2 times at any point in the competition. Instead, modified double elimination means that you are guaranteed at least 2 times to play before being knocked out. After the 2nd round, on the both the winner and loser brackets any loss results in elimination
The main advantages to modified double elimination is that it accounts for any earlier loss in the tournament that might be a result of tough seeding or a players slow start to the tournament. The other big advantage is that it is significantly shorter than complete double elimination.
Below is an example 16 person Modified Double Elimination bracket.
